The SoffitThe first thing which we will be discussing is Soffit. This is a term which is derived from the Latin word which means “to fix underneath” and from the French word which means “formed as a ceiling.” In other words, it refers to the exposed surface which can be found below the overhanging section of a roof’s eave.
One of the main functions of the Soffit being included in a roof is because it contributes towards the ventilation of the attic. This is because the attic is usually that section of a house which is built below the ground level. In that case, it often happens that it is that room which is not getting the proper amount of ventilation for which the entire room can end up being damp. But with the help of a Soffit, since it is a plain design with small holes, it allows for sufficient amount of ventilation. Another thing is that majority of the Soffits are made up of vinyl. This is considered to be quite an effective material since it prevents it from degradation which tends to come from moisture and heat exposure. This is also quite important as it is quite common for Soffits to be exposed to moisture due to the weather conditions and unkempt gutters. |
The FasciaFascia is another thing which needs to be considered. The fascia is a vertical finishing edge which can be found to be attached to the ends of the trusses, rafters, or that area in which the gutter is attached to the roof. The most important role of the fascia is to act as a layer between the outdoors and the edge of the roof. Besides its functional role, the fascia also has an aesthetic role to play. This is because it can give the entire roof a very smooth and polished appearance. By blocking the entrance to the home, it can also help the interior of the home and the entire roof.
